Paneer capsicum is a popular dish in north india and is very easy to make. I learned this recipe from my mother. She used to make this dish whenever we had party in our house. I totally adore this dish. So I thought even i should make this for a party at my home and it was a huge success.
Paneer is a good source of protein for vegetarian people and is one of the most loved veg by Indians.
Saucy Paneer Capsicum
Ingredients
250 gms Paneer / cottage cheese, cut into squares
1 capsicum,cubed
1 large onion,cubed
2 tomatoes,chopped
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp mdh kitchen king masala or use garam masala
1 tsp dried fenugreek leaves
2 tbsp cream
1 tbsp toamto ketchup
1-2 tbsp tomato puree
salt to taste
coriander for garnishing
Method
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, when they change colour add onion.
Saute onion for a min, don’t brown the onion, we want a crunch in the onion. Add ginger garlic paste,saute for a minute.
Now add tomatoes,cook them till they are soft and mushy. Add all the spice powder ie coriander, kitchen king, chilli powder, turmeric.
Mix well.
Add capsicum pieces and cook for 4-5 mins. Don’t fully cook them, there should be some crunch in it.
Now add paneer along with dried fenugreek leaves and salt. Cover and cook for 2 mins.
Add tomato puree and ketchup and mix well. Saute for a min.
Add cream and garnish with coriander. Serve hot with roti, rice or naan.
